| Danbury, CT (5 February, 2010) - New England Construction is pleased to announce the completion of Honda of Danbury. This represents NEC's first Honda dealership. Over the past 10 years, New England Construction has completed over 20 automotive projects in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Hampshire. New England Construction spent several months working with Penske to provide preconstruction services, including value engineering and budgeting support, during the planning phase of the project. This preconstruction support was critical to finalize a scope of work and establish a budget and schedule as well as implement the program established by Honda.
This 3-phased project involved restoration, ground up construction as well as significant site and utility work. Additionally, the site is wedged in between two other auto dealerships and had limited lay down and mobilization area. The service center consists of 17,500 square feet of ground up construction. The showroom and service drive consist of 15,000 square feet classified as a renovation. The car wash and detail bay consists of 4,600 square feet of ground up construction. In total, the project consists of 37,300 square feet. The goal of maintaining service and sales throughout the complex project phasing was met by careful planning, execution and communications. A temporary structure was assembled on the site in order for sales operations to continue while the showroom was being renovated, and operations were shifted into the new facility as it was completed.
