Name: Shane Alexander

Position: Project Engineer

Hometown: Salem, MA

How long have you been with NEC: 2 Years (Including Internship!)
1. What was your very first job?

I was a busboy for a local Italian restaurant called Petrillo’s in Peabody MA, but before that I earned some cash mowing neighbors’ lawns and helping a buddy of mine’s dad snake wires from time to time. His dad was a self-employed residential electrical contractor.

2. What’s your favorite weekend activity?

My favorite winter weekend activity is most certainly skiing. When it’s not cold out I enjoy being anywhere outside, particularly near the ocean, on the weekends.

3. If you were moving to a deserted island and had to choose three things to take, what would they be?

I’d bring food, a speedboat, and enough gas to get me off the deserted island.

4. If you had to choose, what’s one of your favorite job responsibilities? Why?

My favorite job responsibility is interacting with and engaging in conversation with members of the NEC team, as well as clients and subcontractors. I’m young to the industry and have much to learn from those whom have the experience I hope to obtain throughout my career.

5. What’s one of your favorite past projects you’ve worked on at NEC?

My favorite past project would be Staples because I got to spend an extensive amount of time on site gaining construction knowledge and resolving issues first hand in the field.

6. If you had to give one piece of advice on happiness, what would it be?

Don’t sweat the small stuff, always think positively, and never stop improving upon oneself.
