I’ve worked with NEC on multiple projects throughout RI. They have an excellent reputation with a 30-year history of performing projects in this area. They have a strong subcontractor base and these relationships aid in putting together an appropriate team that can effectively manage costs, quality and scheduling. NEC is both proactive and responsive in identifying and solving potential risks.

The proposed project involves the construction of a new 42-unit seven-story building and the renovation of an existing 26,800 square foot building currently on the same site in Maverick Square, in East Boston. The new building will include all low-income elderly housing. The existing building, which includes 17 elderly/disabled subsidized units as well as approximately 3,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial, will be converted to workforce housing units, including two affordable IDP units. The property consists of a 16,266-square-foot parcel of land with 26,800-square foot of mixed-use, residential and commercial building. There will be no changes to the footprint of the existing building. The new building will be situated behind the existing building. It will be seven stories and 39,067 square feet. The 3,798 square foot first floor will consist of a community room, kitchen, lobby, mailroom, office, and mechanical space. The lot size will accommodate 5 parking spaces, one of which will be handicapped accessible.
Belmont Commons is the first phase of a new affordable housing facility for tenants with intellectual and developmental disabilities and physical challenges. The development features a total of 10 units (5 one-bedroom units and 5 two-bedroom units) in a single level plan enhanced by accessible green space and gardens. Each unit is designed to be handicap accessible, featuring optional automatic remote open doors, wheel-chair height front door peepholes and blinking doorbells for hearing impaired residents
