This project consists of the historic restoration and adaptive reuse of a late 19th-century masonry building at 702 Broad Street, transforming the former church structure into a vibrant community resource center. The scope includes a full gut renovation with selective demolition, structural upgrades, and the addition of new space, while carefully preserving and restoring key historic elements such as the original brick façade, terracotta detailing, decorative metal features, and select interior finishes. Work also includes replication of historic materials—such as wood trim and tin ceilings—alongside comprehensive building system upgrades and accessibility improvements. The revitalized facility will blend historic character with modern functionality, creating flexible, multi-level spaces to support a range of community services and programs.
New England Construction completed a historic restoration of the oldest standing industrial building in the City of Providence. Originally a hardware store, the building consists of three structures built over a twenty year period starting in 1826. Currently used as office and restaurant space, the extensive restoration work involved extensive structural improvements and interior fit of the New Rivers restaurant.
New England Construction proudly partnered with The Arc of Massachusetts on the ground up construction of their new corporate headquarters. This new 3,700 SF facility was designed to provide increased space and accessibility for The Arc's staff, volunteers, visitors and clientele.
To meet the increasing demand for services, several enhancements to the existing facility were executed to ensure handicap member accessibility, including the addition of a new elevator. The total project encompasses over 35,980 SF of space including the construction of the new 24,340 SF Hall Family Center & Collis Aquatics Center addition with a six-lane in-ground pool and shallow family swimming pool. Renovations to the facility include a new member-friendly reception/lobby and front desk area. All new locker rooms and significant improvements to the gym, fitness and wellness center were completed as part of the renovation. Careful planning, phased execution, consistent communications and a commitment to safety were critical to the success of this project, as the facility remained operational for the duration construction.
New England Construction was hired to restore the Weekapaug Inn to incorporate many updated features while preserving the character and historic charm of the original structure, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Inn incorporates 27 guest rooms and four two-bedroom signature suites. The Inn now has a private waste treatment facility to properly handle sanitary sewer requirements. A new three-lane, 25-yard lap pool, heated by on-site geothermal wells, was constructed adjacent to the Fenway Cottage, which houses the fitness center, exercise room, and three guest rooms on the second floor. A beach house was also built with showers, changing areas and a restaurant.
