The Senior Estimator will be responsible for preparing estimates for assigned projects. This position requires strong organizational, customer service skills, and will be able to manage concurrent projects. The Senior Estimator will be responsible for oversight and execution of assigned RFP responses and client management. This position reports directly to the Director of Estimating.

What You'll Do

The Senior Estimator's responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Reviews subcontractor proposals, specifications, drawings, project specific documentation, attends pre-bid meetings and walk through’s to determine scope, and cost of work to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.
  2. Responsible for overall subcontractor coverage on assigned projects.
  3. Performs detailed takeoffs.
  4. Responsible for conceptual estimates, budgets, and hard bids, including scopes for use in selecting vendors/subcontractors.
  5. Responsible for managing risk amongst carried subcontractors and scope gaps.
  6. Coordinates total estimating effort relevant to particular bid/project as assigned and submits the bid in a timely manner in accordance with the client’s deadline.
  7. Interfaces with client, architect, engineer, and subcontractors to provide value engineering and constructability review.
  8. Facilitates bid review for assigned projects prior to submission with Director of Estimating and key personnel.
  9. Responsible for providing estimating support to design build and preconstruction activities as assigned.
  10. Acts as a resource to project management during the award and/or start-up phase to clarify any issues regarding what was considered in the estimate including materials and methods of construction. Required to prepare for and attend project handover meeting.
  11. Assist in managing and adding subcontractors to the database.
  12. Establish and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure current market conditions are included in the estimate.
  13. Perform other related duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  2. Must have exceptional phone skills.

  3. Ability to read and interpret construction documents, safety rules, and landlord tenant requirements.

  4. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

  5. Problem solving skills.

  6. Strong organizational skills.

  7. Subject matter expert in specific markets.

  8. Proficiency with MS Office, specifically Excel, Sage, BuildingConnected, AutoDesk Takeoff, and Bluebeam or related softwares.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Minimum of 5 years construction estimating experience with a general contractor.

  2. 4-year degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, etc. Or the equivalent combination of education and experience to meet job requirements.
